ive bought a new laptop dell inspiron. my yahoo messenger did work for first couple of days and then stopped connecting .everytime i want to sign in it says unable to connect chk ur modem etc so far i have tried everything in my knowledge but nothing works iuse wireless internet. may be its my firewall but i dont know how to set that

nothing works i uninstalled it and reinstalled it still doesnt work changed the options on the connection setting still doesnt work

go to messenger menu then prefrences and select connections
u have 4 options , change them and test it again

Make sure your internet is working. Try going to a site before trying yahoo so you know if theres internet connection or not. If there is and if it still doesnt sign in then you should try uninstalling yahoo and downloading it again.

Install your modem driver. I think it should work after re-installation.
Further also try re-installing yahoo messenger. Before that you should have anti-virus, anti spyware/adware/malware installed. If yes, run all of them.

For anti-spy: www.download.com >search spybot search & destroy OR download yahoo toolbar with anti-spy.

Check your firewall settings disable it then connect if it work configure it....

try downloading trillium instant messenger frm www.download.com...it will work for all kinds of instant messengers.. good luck
