Yes! Mile are miles, backwards of forwards... That's like saying that if you walk backwards you will go back in time.

only CARS that were made before 1972 IT will take off miles . it was an old trick for used cars salemen to put a drill on cable and run it backwards. BUT NOW JUST PUT ON NEW ODOMETER AFTER THREE TO FOUR YEARS AND YOU HAVE O MILES.
