My kids earned free themepark tickets for reading books this year. We are planning on going in two weeks and my kids told their dad. He told them he will meet us there just to name the time and place. I'm so mad! We are five hours from the park and I'm paying for transportation and hotel so that we can go. Besides the three kids, I'm taking my parents (good park ratio) and things will be SO awkward with all of us there. What can I do?

This is very awkward - but you must go for your kids sake because they are counting on it. Do you and your ex talk? Can you call him and tell him he will have to get his own room and pay for his own ticket? You're not entitled to spend money on him - just make it a fun day for the kids.

You can call him and tell him he is not invited and to set up something separately with the kids. Also tell him in the future to ASK you if he can participate in activities YOU plan with the kids.

If you don't want him to go then tell him, I personally think its not out of the question, if you were re-married I'd think twice about that but obviously his kids want him there and as a good father he is willing to be there...I don't see why he can't share in on that...

Let him know that you have accomodations and that he needs to make his own. Just let him meet you at the park that way he doesnt stay at your hotel.
