(to much info sorry)If you are trying to determine ovulation by changes in cervical mucus, does the day that your mucus looks like egg whites the day you are to ovulate?

Not necessarily THE day, but you are getting close. The egg-white consistency helps to trap sperm and keep them in your body until you do ovulate. Therefore intercourse 72 hours prior to ovulation could still result in a pregnancy.

Women in their early twenties may have as many as 4 or 5 days of eggwhite, but by their mid-thirties, most will only have a day or two. After estrogen has peaked and dropped, the cervical fluid changes abruptly, often within a few hours. This is due to the sudden drop of estrogen, combined with the surge of progesterone following ovulation. In other words, it may take up to a week for the fertile-quality cervical fluid to build up, but then it will usually dry up in less than a day. This sudden drying of the cervical fluid is the best way to know that estrogen has plummeted and that progesterone has taken over. The lack of wet cervical fluid will usually last the duration of the cycle.

When it's clear the chances of getting pregnant is really small when it's white the chances of getting pregnant is very high.
