best way to reach shimla from delhi ?

Three options are there to go to Shimla from Delhi - Road, Rail and Air.

Jagson Airlines operates from Delhi to Shimla, the airport in Shimla is about 18-20 kms away from the main Shimla railway station.

Train connection is on broad guage from Delhi to Kalka, and from Kalka to Shimla on narrow guage. The narrow guage rail service is by usual small train and mini rail bus. The cost of rail bus journey is more, seats very limited, but an altogether different experience.

Then there is direct delux and ordinary bus service from Delhi to Shimla, run by Haryana Roadways, Himachal Pradesh Roadways and Delhi Transport Coporation. Haryana Roadways delux buses are most comfortable amongst the three. Besides, there are private bus operators also in tourist season from various places in Delhi.

If you are for purely cost factor, ordinary direct buses are the cheapest. Train journey is comfortable than buses but work out a little costlier. Another option could be bus journey from Delhi to Kalka and from there narrow guage train or rail bus. Air travel would be costliest.

Now which is the best way to reach Shimla could be any body's budget, taste and affordability.

Trains are taking much time from kalka but journey is really fantastic. You can taxi from Delhi to Shimla for personal journey like you can see the way sight seeing etc.
From Delhi to Chandigarh (you can see chandigarh) chandi to Solan ( you can see parwanoo,Solan,barog, kasuli etc) Solan to Shimla.
