It's not really a "Big City" but it's still a pretty fun family vacation spot. I'd recommend Branson, Missouri. There aren't really any "Big Cities" within a 5 hour drive of NW Arkansas. Branson is a city that was built entirely around entertainment. There are tons of resorts and hotels and shows and theme parks. It's only 150 miles from the North West corner of Arkansas.

If you're looking for more of a "Big City" you're gonna have to travel a bit further than 5 hours to somewhere like Nashville or Atlanta.

You should check out Eureka Springs, Arkansas. It is not very big, but it is one of those torist places, as for cities, the Springdale, Fayetteville, Rogers Metropolitan area is around 350,000
