I see some people comments that are really mean spirited, stuff that people would never say to someone's face. I wonder if people are generally so mean spirited all the time but just don't show it

Daymon...I have no idea what you mean by that, but I'm guessing it's not good.

It would be a "good psychological experiment." Anonymity allows people to say a lot of things they would not normaly say. Think about it, what are the reprocussions?

Sometimes what i say , in my opinion, is a tad harsh, after i read what i have posted for the third time! Even though the comments some people do make are supposed to be harsh, most of the time, people can't always say what they want to say in the words they want to say them in! So instead of them being what they were intended to be, the phrase they come up with is not what they mean to say at all. Thus causing what they meant to say and what they did say complete opposites. such an example is if i were to say "i got tired of writing about the subject", were what i might have wanted to say is that "the time i have spent writing this has made me feel really tired". So something to take back from this is that people sometimes mix up what they want to say, and say things that might mean the same thing to them, but can be interpreted differently!

Yes you could. You could use Yahoo Answers and ask quite controversial questions and see. Not all people are mean spirited. Some do it for fun to let anger out. Some are mean spirited because they are affected by someone else's opinion (like parents or their religion). There are some good people out there, but, this world is changing for the worse...

Yes, I could.

Based on the number of idiotic waste of time not real questions vs good questions.

It would show a demographic of our society in percentages of what questions are asked being a direct correlation to what the majority does not truly know, and the social behavior there of.

you could but not just through Yahoo Answers...the internet as a whole is another form of an institution...but there is the beauracracy element....anonymity(enabling buck(s) being passed) people being being allowed to do and say anything they want. The internet as a whole is a vehicle for insanity...

People feel free to voice their opinions and share their attitudes.Sometimes I feel nice and sometimes I have a whole lot of smart a$% to share. This is just entertainment for the masses, and since it's available for everyone then you get all kinds.

I think some people are and always show it. Some people are and try not to show it unless nobody they know is looking and some people are trying to be as nice as they can be.
