Crucial.com does have an app you can run which will examine your system and tell you the type you need and what your motherboard can handle.

I remember hearing that Crucial memory will find the type of ram your computer needs. You don't need to buy the ram from them, but it will tell you what you need
P.S. I think PC2700 DDR RAM will fit 2 equal notches in a fairly new computer

There is Rambus, DDR-1 DDR-2 SDRAM SIMM DIMMS there are quite a few. What machine are you trying to upgrade.

they call it RAM because your supposed to RAM the chip into the computer and force it in the slot.

there is lot of models in RAM (SD,DDR,DDR2) just make sure wht kind of RAM your chipset supports, i think that is SD RAM

YOUR COMPUTER IS A PCI. TAKE OUT ONE OF YOUR OLD RAM AND TAKE IT WITH YOU TO THE STORE AND THEY CAN MATCH IT THAT WAY.
