What you can do is this....if you live together, offer a friend who has a child a few days of a break and take their kid on.
This is the best way to know whether the both of you are ready for that or not.
Make sure you get the bratty one because you want to know in the worst case scenario how you would handle a defiant child.
Babies are wonderful, however they do grow and they acquire a mouth and tend to stop listening as well the older that they get.
They are a heavy responsibility and nothing to be taken lightly.
They will change your life forever and your freedom will be wiped away because the child will consume all of that time.
Get married first....stay kid free for at least a year....give yourself some time together and THEN think about kids.
They are wonderful...don't get me wrong...but they are a handful.
Make sure that you are stable in your job because they are very expensive.
They require a lot of love and attention.
I know this because I have four of my own.
Take it from someone that has been there and done it....you are young, you have PLENTY of time to think about child rearing.

Maybe there is still something that your doing to show that your not ready. Trust me, she's being careful. She's wise and know what she wants. So think about anything that your doing that might be of consequence to your relationship. OR just ask her what your doing that shows your not ready and prove to her that you can make sacrifices.

Offer to babysit a friends kid for the day. Show her how you can handle it. They have to see you with a kid first before they can picture it long term....
