Well with my daughter I slowly weened her into sometimes using the bottle and then sometimes using her cup because she was becoming a big girl then she just started to use the cup more and more and when I took the bottle away permanently I don't think she really noticed. But some kids are just late bloomers; I know I was still on the bottle at age 5 and the only way I got off was because my mom said that Santa wouldn't give me presents if I didn't get rid of my bottle. lol !!!Good luck!!!!

Slowly replace a bottle, like during the day, with drinking from a cup. I was afraid my child wouldn't drink as much this way, but once she got more used to the cups instead of the bottle, there was no problem. I think I had her off bottles completely at 16 months, but some people may consider that late. Most of the time I've noticed that changes are harder on us parents than on the kids!

Awwww, poor baby. Don't feel too bad if your daughter ends up on the bottle a little longer. Most people's kids I've known (and my own) are off by 2 years old. But if you really want her weaned from it... maybe put something boring like water in the bottle and put milk (or whatever it is she likes to drink the best) in the sippy cup. That worked with my daughter. Good luck!

you'll just have to completely get rid of the bottles. there is no "weening" because if they know they're still there, that's what they'll want. pack them up or just toss them out. she'll just have to use a sippy cup. that's what we did with my nephew and it worked really well. the temptation for giving a bottle wasn't there.

That's easy...throw all bottle away and give her a start cup. This work for me and I had no problems. Children past a certain age should not have a bottle.

Offer the cup as much as possible - especially at mealtimes. Sometimes if a child sees mom/dad/siblings doing something, they want to do the same thing.

I think a year old is a little early though, wait until 18 mos.

Start putting her milk, juice and water in a sippy cup and throw all of her bottles away, that way you can't give in to her when she wants a bottle instead of a sippy cup.

You have to be consistant with the cup, you can give her a bottle even if she whines or cries. If she knows you will give in it will make it harder. Just give her the cup (try ones with animals or pictures or bright colors to attract her) and even make a game of it or praise her for using the cup like a big girl.
