Because the soccer people desperately crave the approval and enthusiasm of Americans, even though they will not admit it in a million years. After all, you don't see any soccer nitwits posting a similar question on the Canadian football or the Australian football portions of Yahoo Answers.

The obvious is that people are not categorizing their questions correctly, they could as a result be given a Y!A Violation because it's plainly written in the Terms and Conditions section.
Shame on them, I say REPORT 'EM!!
I just realized that it could also be a lack of knowledge of the english language many other countries refer to soccer as "football" and therefore ASSume that Yahoo being written in plain US English is also refering to it as they do.

maybe ppl from other countries just think it means american soccer.bc football (american) is really only an american thing. but football (soccer) is known ALL AROUND THE WORLD
