if it is your budget go for it. nothing wrong with more power. make sure you build it with a 64 bit CPU.

2 GB of RAM is good although I do much of what you're doing off 1 GB of RAM (at the same time). 2 GB will just make things work smoother and more speedier on your PC.

However, as technology progresses, so does the amount of resources needed to accomplish tasks. Therefore if you want to make the most out of your 2 GB, make sure you have a throaty processor and your motherboard allows the expansion for more RAM (say up to 4 GB?). Then you'll have something that really moves.

Computers are only as fast as the slowest thing in them. Always remember this. So if you get 2gb of memory but a crappy HD, processor, vid card, it's not going to help your cause.

And if you want to do all that stuff at the same time, make SURE to get a dual core (Pentium D or, my favorite, AMD 64x2) processor! A fast hard drive would be beneficial to you as well since you're talking downloading/saving all the time.

2 GB is great thing to go provided you have great bandwidth in case of downloading. Dual core is the latest craze after 64 bit. AMD Athlon FX is a far greater performer than P4 Dual cores. You should go for a SLI ed mother board as you are games fanatic. NVIDIA chipset based matching SLI card is a must for serious gamers.

More Ram the better, just make sure your processor supports it. Also thinkof getting the best one you can since they are hard to upgrade latter! Ram is allot easier to upgrade, I added to mine went from 516 to 1 Gig and wow what a difference! Also have Hyper theread, so cool!!! Since you say you'll be dealing with allot of video and pics, you might want to go high ewnd on the video card, even get one that can hold morethan one monitor, they also come with their own RAM. I like the site www.tigerdirect.com myself, lot's of barebone kits. I'd opt for a good or additional fan to keep that hard drive nice and cool!!! One of the leading cause of hard drive failure is heat!!!

Start with 1gb. After putting the computer together, test it out. If u feel its not moving fast enough, then get the other gig of memory. Make sure u get matching set.

More is less in the case of a PC, more ram equates to less s-l-o-w-d-o-w-n. That's if your motherboard allows for it.

Go here for a free memory check...............
