is it possible ,if you eat a large can of baked beans to give you trapped wind resulting in a pain in the upper back .thanks in advance

Absolutely. I actually went to the ER because I had terrible pain in my back after eating. I had no idea that gas would do things like that but they do. If you take Gas X, it really helps.

No its not just the baked beans. It will be anything that is heavy and the problem that you described sounds like a hyatal hernia (not sure of the spelling). That is a condition where the esophagus has a perforation and some foods can't be delivered into the stomach. When that happens, it feels like the food is stuck in the tube but it is actually pain in the esophagus and that will cause your shoulder and upper back to hurt. You need to call the doctor soon and make an appointment for an upper GI or ultrasound.

I think you have two seperate issues there, don't blame the beans for back pains and don't blame the back pains on wind!!

Think about air pressure in a tyre. Now think about that air, or wind, in your body, pressing against flesh, which lightly presses against nerves... et voila, pain pain pain. Can be extreme. Hilarious once it's all out (and even funnier while it's all coming out)

it is uric acid from beans that cause back pain. trapped wind??

you mean do beans really give you gas?? yeah, they do. and if you dont let it out, yeah... it can hurt.
