I had to do it TWO times. Its a pain in the butt but its for a good reason. They do it to check out protein and look for infections.
My protein was a little high when i had to pee in a cup so they had me do a 24 hour urine sample. My protein was way high and I felt fine. I just had some swelling and stuff. I thought it was normal.
2 days later i had my twins because of having severe pre-eclampsia. So just do it to rule out anything that could complicate your pregnancy
Dont stop taking your prenatals.
Unless they tell you not to
They never told me not to

A 24 hour urine catch is to determine if you are preeclamptic. They are checking to see if you are passing protein ,sugar or anything else you should not be passing in your urine. It is more reliable than just taking a urine sample in the office , as that sample may be effected by something you ate/drank in the last hours and the 24 hr. collection will average everything out for that day.

it is a routine procedure for the obstetrician to check your urine for sugar and protein but this is done with a dipstix test that determines that qualitatively (as compared to quantitatively) whether you have sugar or protein in the urine at that particular point in time.
However, there may be situations where it is important to do a 24 hour collection of urine to determine quantitatively how much protein you lose in your urine over a 24 hour period (as compared to just at that point in time). These situations may include pre-eclampsia(hypertension in pregnancy), nephrotic syndrome etc. This information will help in the management of your condition.
Slightly less commonly, 24 hour collection of urine is also used to measure your kidneys' ability to clear waste from your body by doing the 24 hour creatinine clearance test.

it is just a routine test to check if you have protein, blood or bacteria in your urine so that the doctor can know that your kidneys are working just fine. And to rule out a urinary tract infection. Also, proteins in urine is associated with pre-eclampsia and eclamspia and you may feel completely normal and in fact have some symptoms that should be treated early to avoid complications.

What's "24 hour" got to do with it? Any urine culture that is done is making sure you have no abnormalities or infections to keep you and baby safe. Hope it comes out negative and everything continues well for you. Congratulations!!
