I didn't want to replace ALL the tiles in my bathroom, just need to add about 10 close to the kickboard of my new vanity.

Do I need a primer? How well will the paint wear? It is in a guest bathroom, not heavily walked on.

You cannot paint them.
But, maybe you can replace just one row for an accent in your bathroom. Make it a complementary but different color to accent your bathroom. If it is small enough and not noticeable, just find something close and do not worry about it.
Cover it with a bathroom rug!

You can paint ceramic tiles, and there are products availble to do this. However, I have read (see below) that this job is best left to a professional, because of the nastiness of the chemicals involved.

I believe you can paint tile, but you have to prime it first. The Home Depot or Loew's paint experts should know what you should use.
