Sometimes spyware can get on your computer, especially from going to untrustworthy sites or by clicking on popups. I'd say make a backup of everything that you value on your computer onto CDs then, after that, to system recover take your boot disk (which should say "Windows XP" or whatever operating system is as the main thing on the disk) into the drive and turn it off and then turn it on booting it to the disk. If in a minute or two it doesn't boot to system recovery screen from the disk then turn it off then on again and press F10 a bunch of times till it comes up with system recovery screen. Then do advanced and system recovery, so that your computer will be like it was when you first got it. You will have to reinstall each program including your internet provider from your disks or from downloads. I'd suggest then going to downloads.com and immediately searching for security programs (one of each of the following: a virus scan/remover, then spybot search and destroy, and a firewall) then be careful what sites you go onto and which emails you open.

Becuase Windows XP is a pest. Go to Start>Control Panel>Classic View>Security Center. On the left hand border look for "change the way security center notifies me". Click it and clear the checkboxes here. Now windows will not do that anymore. It will also not notify you if your virus definition is up to date, and security center won't bug you about updates (though windows update itself usually still will).

All it is is that your computer doesn't meet with the security recommendations of Micro$oft Windows. You don't really have to worry about it, but to get rid of it you should buy a personal firewall and antivirus from McAfee I would recommend... http://www.mcafee.com/

It keeps popping up on my screen everytime I turn on the computer too! Just leave it alone, doesn't harm or do any bad to you anyway.

If its a little red sheild in your taskbar, its probably Microsoft wanting to update your windows and install their Version Verifier.. OR.. its and adware pop-up wanting to sell you something or something unwanted ;)
