I wanna play one of the two, especially the bass because I know how to play the violin and the bass has 4 strings just like it. I want to know if there is a differents, or if its just the sound.

The guitars are usually 6 or 7 strings; the bass is usually 4 to 7 strings, with a longer neck and a deeper sound

Bass... usually four strings that are pretty thick, so it takes a bit more effort to play them. Long neck and the sound is really low. Together with the drums the bass are the rythmsection of the band

Guitar: 6 strings tuned a certain way. Can be used to strum chords... and play solo. Has a higher pitch then a base

Deeper tones. Four strings. Bass is often plucked with fingers rather than plectrum, and chords are rarely used in bass. Bass players are wierd, unless they sing too, but even then they're a bit wierd.

Lately however, bass guitar is becoming more prominent. It's losing it's "supporting cast" reputation and moving more into the forefront of music.

What? You don't know the difference? The bass is the master of...stuff, especially mine. You should play the bass, or the guitar as long as it's a Fender...Like mine!!! Mwahahahahaha, I play both, but I don't play the guitar as well. STRATOCASTER!!! But seriously, I think the bass is better, especially a five or six string because they have a longer range and you can double or triple string better.

You don't have to play the guitar or bass. If you play violin and you're thinking about going to bass, I think the cello (rent it out, it's expensive) is up your alley.

If you're set on the bass or guitar, I think bass would be a nice change in sound for you...and then see if that leads you to the cello.

The bass follows the bass clef, and the 6-string guitar follows the treble clef. That's the simplest difference.

a bass only allows you to play the bass or roots of chords on a guitar you can play chords which makes the song you are playing sound better
