Is this area correct?

Question

I have calculated the area of my living room, is it correct? If it is, what is the formula?

I calculated it to be 284.875, but when I made the design, I put it 285 Ft. sqr., because of the limited space.

You would take the area of the main rectangular part of your living room. (l x w) 12.5 x 21.5 = 268.75. Then add in the smaller rectangle at the top. (l x w) 1.5 x 9.5 = 14.25. Then add the area of the left over triangle. (1/2 l x w) .75 x 2.5=1.875. Then add all three areas together. Total = 284.875

21.5 x 12.5 for the large space

+ 9.5 x 1.5 for the small top left section

+ (1/2)(2.5 x 1.5) for the small angled triangle section

= 284.875
