I downloaded a game site and were able to play alot. Now it's asking me to download the game again. Will it do any harm if I download it again w/o deleting the old one?

Normally to download the same file twice, you could change the name of either the existing file or the new one, but if it is asking you to download it again, then there seems to be something else going on. If you install the new file it might make changes to your system regardless of how you named it and mess up your first game.

No, either it will update the existing one or it may be another game. Still if you know its the same game, better un-install the old one & then re-install the new one.

You can change the name of file only if the file is .exe If its direct > run > download prompt then you cant change the file name.

You can download it to the same spot, and it will just transfer your saved progess to the new game. Kind of like a "restore"'

You can have any many of the same file on your PC as you like, just rename them before you download the next, for example:
Game.exe
game1.exe
game2.exe
You can rename them before you download the next, or you can rename them as you save them.
