I love it, it calms me down and it sucks that i have to be uber secretive about it. Yes i consider a recreational drug.

Answer I posted on a previous similar question:

I would certainly vote to legalize marijuana.

I don't use it as a drug and wouldn't, if it were legalized, but it would open the doors to a lot of opportunities.

One of the reasons hemp isn't allowed as a crop in the USA is because, obviously, it's a product of the canibus (marijuana) plant. Hemp has so many positive aspects about it, from clothing, paper, and rope manufacturing, to a possible product for formenting ethanol, to even directly fueling organic power plants. Since it doesn't decarbonize the soil (it actually improves the soil it's grown in and requires little to no fertilizer), it's better than cotton and corn as a crop and produces far greater volumes of usable material in the same amount of land. It's a sort of wonder-plant.

But, since we can't grow it without also having "pot", we should just get over it and legalize the stuff. If it were legalized, the government could tax it, generating increased revenue (for the US instead of the cartels), and employ FDA to regulate it, making purer and safer products that are inevitably widely used anyway. Plus, it would decrease the amount of court-system flow, freeing up more legal system resources to focus on truly necessary law enforcement / punishment.

Studies have also shown that "weed"-use is far less harmful than alcohol, and has also shown that users are far less likely to become violent, which (alcohol) is the primary contributor to domestic abuse and sexual offenses everywhere, along with street violence, and countless other crimes.

However, it is still a person/mind-altering drug that needs to be taken seriously. Any use of a substance that inhibits normal thought-processes and physical functionality is bad and needs control / responsibility / accountability. Plus, "pot" does cause neurological damage among other significant physical problems (less than alcohol, keep in mind).

I do not see it as a "gateway drug". But, it is a drug.

I dont mind legalizing marijuana. I dont do it because I hate the smell. I dont smoke eaither. Just do it on your own time in private if it's legalized. I dont want people to get high while driving or working or even eating in puplic restaurants. It will make them look stupid. ANd it's disprespect other people who doesnt do it. Just the same as smoking.

I've never used it, but I think it should be legalized with restrictions. You'd have to be 18 or older to use it or possess it, it'd be sold like cigarettes with the same warnings on the box and taxed all to hell, you'd be able to possess it in small amounts, and you could only smoke it at home or in certain designated areas. And of course, never at work or anything like that.

Think about all the benefits it could have on our society. A lot of people smoke it precisely because it's against the law. Prisons, jails, police and the court systems wouldn't be so overloaded with minor cases of possession and would be able to spend more of their time and effort on the really dangerous drugs, like coke, heroin, and meth, especially meth.

In reality, it's never going to happen. The government has been preaching the dangers of its use for years, and for them to suddenly legalize it and go back on all of the posturing and posing would be completely unheard of.

I do not smoke it, however, I believe it should be legalized. It is a natural occurance and why someone has made nature illegal is beyond me. I have never heard of anyone dying of marijuana overdose, but I have heard of people dying of lung cancer from cigarettes and alcohol poisioning. Doesn't make much sense to me.

Yay! Studies have shown that alcohol is more damaging physically and mentally to the human body.
Either legalize marijuana or ban alcohol.
People can write to their local politicians expressing their opinions.

I QUIT SMOKING A FEW YEARS AGO BECAUSE IT STARTED TO MAKE ME LAZY AS HELL. BUT I THINK IT SHOULD BE LEGAL HELL YEAH. EVEN THOUGH I'VE QUIT I AM STILL LAZY AS HELL, BUT I DON'T WANT TO SMOKE ANYMORE.... LUNGS ARE HARD TO REPLACE.
BUT REALLY IT'S BETTER THAN BOOZE. IT MAKES YOU REALLY THINK ABOUT STUFF TOO. AND AS FAR AS GETTING CREATIVE IT'S THE BEST,. WHAT CAN WE AS PEOPLE DO TO LEGALIZE IT? WELLL WE'D PROLLY HAVE TO GET ELECTED INTO THE HOUSE MAJORITY. I'LL VOTE FOR YOU IF YOU VOTE FOR ME:
YOU CAN BREW ALCOHOL AT HOME TOO. IT SHOULDN'T BE A BIG DEAL.
SOMEONE SHOULD SEND THIS THREAD TO A LEGISLATOR OR CONGRESSMAN OR REPRESENTATIVE.

yes legalize it then tax it. As long as it grows people will smoke it. It is a natural growing substance. Alcohol is legal and more people die from that than marijuana.Pot heads drive slow.

Ya know the baby boomers are retiring, and society is starting to realize that alcohol destroys many more lives than MJ ever could. The key is educating people to the truth. And time, many states have decriminalized it aleady! But we still have a long way to go!

i should be legalized. alchol and cigs are legal and they have just as much health side effects. if the government really thought about it legalizing weed would make them a lot of money from taxes. b/c they could tax it like cigs. as far as homegrown -- you could home grow tobacco to but it just isn't done because it isn't convenient. you could also make alchol yourself but that is not convenient either.

only for medical use.
Why do people think it's okay to smoke it? God didn't create it to be used for entertainment reasons if he would he would just created us in that state of mind(stoned) all the time,so stop miss using it.
