Sometimes it's easier to follow the crowd than be youself. You get less hassle that way...but when you get a bit older you realise that to be individual is to be true to yourself. It's kind of a chameleon situation of acceptance too. If you blend in then you don't cause problems

They think that if they act like everyone else , they will be more likely to fit in. They are also afraid that their real self is not good enough for others and that they will only end up alone....

Insecurity is the usual answer. Nobody wants to be rejected or abandoned. And maybe, they were at some point in their life, and are making sure it doesn't happen again. Being cool is a safe place for some, they cannot help it. Garnet

there are only three types of people in regards to being or not being who we really are.
leaders
followers
and those who have not yet chosen their mark in life yet.

with young people it is easy to follow in the path of others we like.
some young people are independent and will take a lead role in just about every thing they do.
some will mature later in life and choose.

most young people that follow others into bad things see the light
later in their lives and will most likely turn out to be excellent people later in life.

please do not judge young people, in most cases they will prove to be honest hard working and intelligent adults.

some will be bad all their lives but, that is such a small portion of our youth and mixed into all generations.

These people do that because they are insecure with them selves. I have way too many people like that at my school. They are posers. They wont change....they are the suck ups that are going to be up the "popular" crowds butts for the rest of eternity.... its an inevitability!

people have been acting like someone there not for centries, wheather it been in grade school or as a adult. if people were not always so judemental in life maybe outsiders wouldnt feel the need to be who they are not just to fit in and feel wanted in todays society.

I do it cause I have no real personality of my own, and I want to try other personalities on and see if they will suit me.
Also I have no sense of humor, but I know how to laugh when other people laugh. I'm a good laugher.
