Whoa. This one is a tad obscure, definitely not general trivia. You are referring to the numbers of women who responded to the IBMPC surveys. IBMPC is the IBM Computer Conferencing Center which opened in 1981.
The conference was accessed solely by computer. A demographic survey revealed only 6 female responses in 1988 (and only 3 in 1986), the first two years a gender identification was included in the survey.
The dearth of female responses had IBM on its ear trying to analyze why so few women responded.
