My son is getting married in September. I think the groom's family is responsible for the rehearsal dinner. I am so broke. Does anyone have any ideas? I live in a small aparment, so outside entertaining is out of the question. I think there will be about 15 that will be involved. Thanks.

Fifteen people on a budget? Can do! Check with your local municipal park and recreation department about reserving a park and/or shelter for a day. You can feed fifteen people fairly easily, provided you're willing to do the work preparing the food yourself. Good food doesn't have to be expensive! You could simply buy a large pot roast and throw it in a Crock Pot with some veggies and seasoning. Or bring along a grill and have barbecued ribs. If you use the park and shelter idea, arrange for some fun picnic games, like volleyball or badminton.

The important thing is that the guests have fun and socialize--rehearsal dinners aren't really about the food anyway!

Why not Pot Luck? I realize it's not "in" yet, but perhaps you will be starting a trend that will become very popular. Another alternative would be to serve spaghetti with just tomato sauce. It will not cost much. With 2 packs of spaghetti, you will easily serve 15 people and the cost? $2.50. Tomato sauce? $3.00. For dessert, you can buy old fruit at your supermarket. Cut it up and serve as a fruit cocktail with some ice cream. Total cost: About $10 - $12. Good luck and congratulations for your son's wedding.

15 people involved?? That's a great atmosphere to make things even more personal, as the crowd is straight to family. That doesn't require a big budget, and I think more creativity and things from the heart than the wallet. Money is the very last thing that matters at this point. I think things will work themselves out, actually. Breathe easy.

jus cover the tables with white tablecloths....target has some for $10 each....i went to smart and final and got some pastic utensils that look like REAL silverware and everyone was shocked!...plastic champagneflutes with napkins fanned out in them....clear plastic plates make the meal the focus and the white tablecloth makes a drastic contrast.....have anearby reastaurant cater for you....because catering for 10 is WAY expensive!!...get flowers from a wholesaler and do the centerpieces yourself...something simple like roses in a bowl...
