Congratulations. Let's see what students study in London:

Forensic chemistry I

Basic Principles and Statistical Methods; Measurements and significant figures; Basic statistics and Gaussian distributions; Confidence interval estimation; Hypothesis tests I; Hypothesis tests II; Volumetric and Gravimetric Analysis; Introductory Topics; Principles of Volumetric Analysis and Acid-Base Equilibria; Acid-Base Equilibria and Acid-Base Titrations; Acid-Base Titrations; EDTA Titrations; Gravimetric Analysis; Separation Methods; Phase partitioning and solvent extraction; Gas Chromatography; High Performance Liquid Chromatography; Ion exchange chromatography; Spectroscopic Methods; Principles, Interaction Between Light and Matter.

Forensic chemistry II

The course gives students hands-on experience of a wide range of common laboratory instrumental techniques, which they may only have read about in the past. They will learn the physical basis and scope of a range of techniques, and will get experience in using these techniques to solve chemical problems. The course requires students to carry out five instrument-based laboratories. Several analytical techniques will be covered in the course, ranging from the established/traditional such as atomic absorption, to the more modern, such as capillary electrophoresis, for example.

There are no special chemicals used by forensic science laboratories. These are like any other laboratories dealing with chemistry, biology, physics, ballistics, medical science, etc. The difference is in the manner in which scientific knowledge/ findings/opinions are used in adminstration of justice.
