Mines pretty f'ed up. plus its a windows ME which Microsnot stopped supporting.

Since it sounds like you already have a monitor, just go to CompUSA and buy only the tower (the computer). This is the cheapest way to go as long as your current monitor is good enough. You can find a good computer for 5-600 bucks that will have more memory and power than you'll ever need.
I don't recommend buying used computers, because that will only lead to more problems.

I would look at the used computer market. You can get a very good gently used system at a fraction of the cost of a new computer. Lets face it, most users only use a fraction of the capabilities of the newer systems and would be just as happy with an older system for every day use.

check out deals site like slickdeals.net and search for a computer.
There often are threads about dells or specials at compusa or other websites.
I got over a year and a half ago a brand new Dell SC420 server (no screen) for just over 200 including taxes and shipping.

eMachines. You can also surf to the various manufacturers websites and check under refurbished. You will not get the latest and greatest but you can find an excellent buy that still has a warranty.
