nothing special about it, peruse this site and and learn to cook like a southerner. After you master tea dig into grits, my faverite has crumbled sausage and egg and butter salt and pepper. Notice I 'm not saying it's good for you.

It's usually just over-sugared iced tea. Not normally any specific type of tea...just has way too much sugar in it. It's predominantly found in the southern parts of the US and is usually made from Lipton or Luziane teabags. (I know...that should be enough to gag anyone from overseas.)
If you asked most Americans what "orange pekoe" was, they'd think it was a new type of designer miniature dog.

yes the normal American tea is orange pekoe and sweet tea is just that, orange pekoe with lots of sugar but the tea is also made stronger. it depends were you are in the states also, my dads family from Georgia drinks it real sweet but out here in California they don't really drink sweet tea.

It's regular tea, (or regular to us) orange pekoe. It's served over ice and about 1/3 cup sugar per half gallon. It's super down here in Texas.

Georgia sweet tea is so dark it looks like coffee and so sweet it makes your teeth ache. Boil water and add orange pekote tea and let steep until you get the color you want. Add all the sugar you have in the house and lots of ice cubes. Pull up a rocker on the porch and enjoy!

Well Bless Your Hearts ! Sweet tea has the sugar added before it is iced because sugar does not dissolve well in cold liquid. The being to sweet part is subjective in the south you can never be to sweet. Now y'all just run along and play!

It is any ordinary tea, usually iced, with lots of sweetening added to it, sometimes during brewing. It is particularly a feature of the southeastern states where I have had to specify not sweet, not sweet, not sweet.
