Congratulations on your new grandchild!! I was induced with my daughter and the contractions were harder but she was born in 3 hrs so I didn't consider it that bad!

Yes. Petocin is 14-20X stronger in its binding and effects on the receptors than oxytocin, the body's natural birthing hormone. The contractions will be harder, longer, and closer together than if she went into labor on her own. She should probably ask for an epidural or some other pain relief.

Undoubtedly. I never heard of an induced labour that went to plan. On the bright side the result was always a healthy, beautiful child - enjoy your new grandchild!

People say that but honestly I was induced and I had the smoothest most awesome experience. I think everything will turn out great. I will say a prayer for her and the baby! Best of luck for a smooth delivery and congrats!!

induced labour is not more painful but is usually longer. However, there may be a risk of failed induction and she may need a caesarean section if it fails. In your case, it seems that her doctor has assessed her hypertension to be serious enough to indicate induction of labour. She should consult her doctor again if she is not sure and come to a decision together.

i am getting induced as well but they are doing it because my baby is bigger due to my diabeties they told me that it does hurt more than normal labor if you get induced you will go thro more pain then if you weren't because of the things they need to do to induce.

Okay, I have only one child but I was induced with her, so I guess I really have nothing to compare it to, but I can tell you that it wasn't as bad as I thought that it would be.

It is horrible... I was with my stepsister when they induced her. Vomiting and Sh@tting at the same time, and the contractions were really bad.

everyone labor is different. my contractions were irregular so they put me on pitocin, but olny to jump-start them. after that, it was my body doing all the work. if they don't break her water, it usually isn't as bad. i'm not sure why docs do it when it's not necessary. is she against getting an epidural?
