There are different types of acne. The most common acne is the type that develops during the teen years. Puberty causes hormone levels to rise, especially testosterone. High hormones signal skin glands to start making more oil (sebum). Oil releases from the pores to protect the skin and keep it moist. Acne begins when oil mixes with dead cells and clogs the skin's pores. Bacteria can grow in this mixture, and if it leaks into nearby tissues, it causes swelling, redness, and pus. A common name for these raised bumps is pimples.
Certain medications can cause acne to develop. This type of acne usually clears up when you stop taking the medication.
It isn't just teens who are affected by acne. Sometimes newborns have acne because their mothers pass hormones to them just before delivery. Acne can also appear when the stress of birth causes the baby's body to release hormones on its own. Young children and older adults also may get acne.
A few rare conditions of the endocrine system, such as polycystic ovary syndrome and Cushing's syndrome, can lead to outbreaks of acne.
The different types of acne include: 1
Newborn acne. About 20% of newborns develop mild acne. This may be because certain hormones are passed to them through the placenta by their mothers just before delivery, or because the stress of birth may cause the baby's body to release hormones. Newborns with acne usually only have whiteheads.
Infantile acne. Babies between 3 and 6 months may develop infantile acne. They can develop blackheads and pimples at the same time. Infantile acne can last until the child is 5 years old. The pimples rarely leave scars. Children with infantile acne are more likely to develop severe acne during their teen years. The cause of infantile acne is not known.
Acne vulgaris. The most common type of acne in teens and young adults is acne vulgaris. It affects about 17 million people in the United States. Acne vulgaris appears most often in people between the ages of 12 to 24. 2
Acne conglobata (cystic acne). Acne conglobata is a rare but serious form of acne that occurs in young men. In acne conglobata, deep pimples develop on the face, chest, back, upper arms and thighs. These pimples often leave severe scars. Acne conglobata may last as long as 20 years.
Acne fulminans. Acne fulminans is a severe form of acne conglobata that occurs in teen boys. In acne fulminans, a large number of pimples develop very quickly on the teen's back and chest. These pimples often leave severe scars. Pimples do not usually develop on the teen's face. Teens with acne fulminans often also have a fever, along with muscle and bone pain.

Break outs are actually caused by oily skin which in turn is caused by an increase in certain hormones around puberty and women's monthly cycles. It has nothing to do with being h****. Trust me on that. Some people find that certain foods cause them to break out. So can using the wrong skin care products. Keep your skin clean by washing twice a day with something like Neutrogena Acne wash or whichever brand you prefer. Any more than twice a day will actually make you break out more.

More likely the hormones are causing both at the same time.
Increased testosterone (a sex hormone) will cause acne... and an increased sex drive.

No, it isn't true. Stress, excessive sweating, bad hygiene, allergies to anything, depression....those are some things that can make you break out. Sex hormones don't make you break out, they will actually clear up your skin!

Hormones, contact dermatitis, allergies, heat rash... I never heard of the H*** breakouts...If that were the case. Most adults would be walking around with rash all the time.

Hormones effect the PH balance...also the weather or activity (eg. sweating) Even certain creams , soaps or makeup would disturb the PH balance

Skin breakouts are usually caused by stress. They could also be caused be excessive oil in skin. I don't think you can break out by just being horny. Hehe... that's kinda funny when you thin about it.
