A lot of it's ambition and attitude as well. The idea of agents walking up to girls on the street and offering them jobs or chances is a miniscule percentage of the industry, you need to chase it. You're look is important in your overall shape, height is usually an issue for wokring with other models, they want you all around the same height so the industry has an average of about 5'8 to 6" for women but exceptions are made. But you need a good attitude in front of the camera, be comfortable and know how to pose whilst being given directions for hours under hot lights and still be enthusiastic and positive to those around you. Also do not give up but be polite yet persistant.
Best of luck :-)

To be a runway model you have to be tall and skinny to have the clothes fall on you properly. All other types of modelling however have models of all shapes and sizes. I find Victoria secret models are very tall and thin as well. Keep in mind, i think all of them do runway as well. You shouldn't be discouraged though, like I said they come in all shapes and sizes for print work. If you have nice features, and good complexion I think you will have definite possibilities. Good Luck.

Well I think in high fashion and in Victoria's Secret there all tall and very skinny, but im sure there are plenty of modeling agencies who want someone who actually looks normal instead of models in victoria's secret and on the runway. I think youd be great.

The majority of models are stick thin, but there are a couple of magazines that hire and like a model with a little meat on their bones. Victorias Secret is not one of them. Dont get discouraged, there are modeling agencies and advertisers who like the strong and shapely type models. Good luck

you would do allright in print ads, but you are too short for runway.
the major requirement is to have a magnetic look that people will be attracted to and remember
personally: I believe the requirements are wacky but then again that is why I am no longer an agent
