If you've been out of touch that long, your account may have been closed and the funds turned over to the state. Check your state's web site for unclaimed property. It probably would be on the state controller or secretary of state's page of the state you lived in at the time you opened the account or where the bank last knew you lived. Instructions on how to claim would be there too.

They should have been sending you year-end statements for tax purposes all this time and the information would have been on those.
