I would recommend automotive shop in high school, along with science, electrical, computer, and mathematics (you'll use them, believe me!) After high school, I would recommend an Automotive Vocational school, or even "UTI" that advertises on television. Read all you can about automobiles to help keep up with technology, and apprentice in an automotive garage if possible. Also, get all the "hands on" experience you can, that is one of your best teachers! Also, be a "sponge" and soak in all the knowledge you can from experienced techs. I know it sounds like a lot of work, but being an auto tech today requires more knowledge than being a Doctor!!

Check out www.bmwstep.com, read the whole site and investigate the school links. That is a beginning. Hard to say where it will bring you.
