It's possible you computer is running out of memory space to run the mouse program properly. Do you know how much space is left on your computer?
Or perhaps there is a problem with the mouse itself. Borrow someone's mouse and see what happens when you use it on your computer.

if the mouse is just having trouble moving on the mouse pad just flip it over and clean the fuzz and other junk from the rollers and do a few blast from the canned air bottle

It's your computer, a mouse cannot freeze up. Defrag your computer, clear up the hard drive, and run a couple virus checks.

Clean it. Go on the Internet or find a book on how to clean it. It worked for me.
