I understand that with the amount of users the line would be busy often but it would be better than nothing.

Yahoo hosted ISP like SBC YAHOO now ATT Yahoo, if you have problems with the regular yahoo services you can call your ISP 800 number ask for a 2nd level of support, then explain the kind of problem you have they will try to fix it if they can't they will ESCALATE you to yahoo support, there is really a yahoo technical support but they only accept calls from 2nd level escalations.

why spend money on an 800 number when you already have a website where you can put up a help section like the one we have here or just a place where they can text with a tech of their own right here.

We are not customers we are users ... the people that pay for all those add banners and such are the customers and I am sure they have numbers to call.
