No. The 9600Pro is far superior to it. More video memory in the world of graphics cards, doesn't matter. What matters is the type of memory (DDR, GDDR2 or GDDR3) and the memory clock speeds and core clock speeds. If you have a card with 128MB of memory with higher clock speeds and a card with 256MB of memory with lower clock speeds, the 128MB card will perform better. I beleive the 9xxx series from ATi still uses DDR memory. If you want something better go for a Geforce 6600 or 6600GT I believe they are still making AGP versions of that card but they are getting harder to find.

no i had a radeon 9600XT before that i had a nvidia geforce 5500fx and the 9600 kicked that cards butt if you want a great and cheap card by a nivdia 6600 or if you got the money to shell out get either a nvidia 7800 or 7900 series

Depends on the amount of video RAM. I have both, but the FX5200 works better because it has more RAM.
