US power supply is 110 V - 60 Hz through 2 flat pin sockets
Indian power supply is 220 V - 50 Hz thorugh 2 or 3 round pin sockets.
But what items are you talking about?
If you are talking about your Laptop - Check the power ratings behind its adapter. Most laptops generally accept power ranging from 110-240 V and 50 or 60 Hz. If it has that kind of rating - then that should not be a problem. You may need an adapter just for plugging in your flat pins into the round pin sockets. Most hotels will have these kinds of adapters with them and can supply to you on request. But if possible, it is advisable to carry one of your own. :-)
If you are talking about an electric shaver. Many big hotels have a 110 V 2- pin (flat) socket in the bath room for the shavers. You can check from the hotel guys.

I just got back from Mumbai - here's what I found out about Mumbai's power sockets:
Like the previous answers, power is 220v, so anything that must run 110 needs a power converter.
Plug sockets are two different types:
- 3 prong is known as UK setup (two small round holes, one larger round hole (ground))
- 2 prong is known as European, or old UK - this is two small holes, spaced a little farther out than the UK 3 prong.
Like the other guy said, go to an electronics store - they will be able to get you what you need.
Happy travels!

They use 220 over there.
you have to buy a travel kit which is an adapter for the different kind of plugs. Most modern day electronics will switch from 110 to 220 automatically
