If you stood on the North Pole, your compass would point south towards the magnetic pole.
The magnetic pole is not and never has been connected with the north pole. The north pole is a demarcation of the earths point of rotation in space. The magnetic pole is the actual location of the northern pole of the Earth's magnetic field.

Since no one has actually given you the direction, I throw in my two bits. Which way will it point? South. Hah! Now, you might want to now exactly where it points, and that is towards the magnetic north pole which lies on a longitude of roughly 113 deg W. If you then travel to the magnetic north pole, your compass, as stated earlier, will want to point down, until it becomes vertical, thus marking the vicinity of the magnetic north pole. Check out how it moves at the site below, very fun.

There is the North Pole, and the magnetic North Pole.
At the North Pole, the pointer will point to the magnetic North Pole.
At the magnetic North Pole, the pointer will just settle on a random direction and stop.
