There is no real answer to this question but what I have learned of what love is to me is...

(L)isten: and Validate them by hearing and empathizing.
(O)verlook: their minor character flaws as they will overlook yours.
(V)alue: who they are and what they mean to you.
(E)xpress: how you love them not just with words but with actions.

The most important of all human emotions and motivations is love, though most people would be hard-pressed to tell you what the 'real' thing is all about! There's a great book by Greg Baer called, "Real Love: The Truth About Finding Unconditional Love and Fulfilling Relationships," that I highly recommend (he also gives seminars, often at Unity churches). He says that when people learn how to find Real Love, they have what matters most in life. They lose their need to lie to each other, be angry, act like victims, and withdraw from each other. With sufficient Real Love, profound happiness and richly rewarding relationships naturally follow.

Yes...it's about being self-less and wanting what is best for your spouse...family, friends...etc.

True love or unconditional love is knowing someone and loving them "warts" and all. It's about not doing for yourself but doing for someone else.

Love is patient and kind; love is not jealous or boastful; 5 it is not arrogant or rude. Love does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; 6 it does not rejoice at wrong, but rejoices in the right. 7 Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 8 Love never ends; as for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For our knowledge is imperfect and our prophecy is imperfect; 10 but when the perfect comes, the imperfect will pass away. 11 When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child; when I became a man, I gave up childish ways. 12 For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall understand fully, even as I have been fully understood. 13 So faith, hope, love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

The benefit is that you don't live in a selfish frame of mind and you do things that can brighten others day.

i believe there is nothing called true love or false love.
"LOVE IS LOVE"

it is one of the deepest feelings in the earth and the purest too.

when you keep thinking of somebody a whole day, still dont feel tired...
when you think of somebody not only before going to sleep, but even she/he appears in your dreams...
when your eyes dont feel exhosted staring at that person...
when you can leave one of your oldest bad habits due to request from that person...
you are in love.

i believe there is no basic difference in feelings between crush ,infatuations.it is only we who gave this feelings various names.one sided love is nothing-why?
we call it love only when both the person have similar "attraction" for each other.i dont find any reason in this.
again i ll say LOVE IS LOVE it cant be defined by any proper defination.

before telling you about the benefit,i must tell you that some people say:LOVE is Loss Of Valuable Energy.
it makes you forget all works.
it makes you drive the car at a very high speed to reach your love.
it makes you forget to take foods.
it leaves you half mad....

still people fall in love, because this is a relation of hearts,it does not obey any barrier....nothing...
i am just of 18,and said what i feel, right from the depth of my heart....

finally i must tell, love is that universal feeling which can make a ghost a man,a man a good man.and betray in love may bring the reverse true.

take care...

Well, love is nothing but a biochemical reaction that happens between two members of a species in order to make sure there is reproduction and the species does not go extinct. It is simply our hormones telling us we'd better hook up or else we're all gonna die.

Whatever it is, it's the only thing that keeps a lot of mothers from strangling their children.

Well, love makes life so much more worth living, death worth dying.
