I head it was getting shut down in January 2007. And, if its being shut down because of child solicitation, then every online p2p website must be shut down to make it fair- like this one. It's very easy to message 11 year olds on here, you can tell how old they are by their questions! Or how about the millions of dating sites? I don't see those getting shut down. Interesting.

(Oh, and to anyone who has a profile on yahoo...it'll be the same here too...once myspace is shut down, you'll have to start making your kids take their profiles off here too...)

I agree. A lot of it is the parents not taking responsibility for their children and watching them- to the parent who made their daughter take off her profile, good job. If kids are under a certain age, they shouldn't have a profile, or they should follow the rules of myspace. Kids are so stupid and naive.

Not shut down just yet. A 14 year old girl (actually her parents) are suing the creator of MySpace because she hooked up with a 19 year old and was raped. Did MySpace tell her to go meet this pervert? Tell her to tell this guy where she lived? I don't think so. People are told time and time again to place their home computers in a common area at home so parents can walk by and check on what their kids are doing or who they're chatting with. How about parents of kids under 18 block sites like MySpace or chatrooms to protect their children? How about parents take some responsibility for their children and their actions?

It is not being shut down everyone. Just because people abuse it, no one can shut it down but the owner of the site. It is not breaking any laws in anyway. For all of you that think Myspace is the problem, I say you are wrong, the problem is PARENTS, not keeping track of what their kids are doing on the net.

Myspace was originally set up and marketed towards a younger audience (middle school, high school, and early college). However, the people who govern it have taken a hands off approach to the content that is posted. Instead of keeping it the youth friendly site it was supposed to be, they've allowed it to turn into more of a dating and hook-up site, with no reprocussions for pervs. So young kids end up exposed to things they really shouldn't see.

There is an online petition for it to be shut down. Parents are not responsible enough to keep their kids from being solicited.

It's not. Don't believe every Internet rumor you here. People want it shut down, certainly, but that doesn't mean it is. People say tons of things online; that doesn't make them true.

It's being shut down? What? That sucks, I had 1660 views of my profile and blog as of this morning.

Probably because of the child solicitation that's happening on there.
