I know how you feel, screw all of these people that are saying "enjoy it"..they obviously don't know how annoying it is to be told "Oh you look so young!!" I guess they didn't read that you look 15 and people are leaving when they see you, um, Hello people, 15 is a minor..lol. I'm 22 and I do look young, I just try to wear eye make-up and lipstick, I shop in the women's department instead of the juniors section (they have a lot of cute and modern "twenty-something" items, it's not all Mom Jeans and frumpy stuff, but the shirts do fit a little weird, so that's like all I get in the juniors section) And try parting your hair in the center and pulling it back into a sleek ponytail, that works for me. Good Luck! :) And that's awesome, you're almost 21 and you own a salon, very cool!

Well if I were you I would count your blessings. This is a good thing. When I was 12, I looked around 18. I wore make up and was developed for my age. Now I am in my 30's and I LOVE it when people say I look about 23/24. It's great. I understand how it could be frustrating for you, but I think you should embrace it. Afterall one day it might be opposite, I know several women that look washed up before their time due to lifestyle, stress, drinking etc. Maybe not looking older just more conservative is for you. I'm not sure what you wear to work, but a nice tailored pant suit may give you the look you are desiring.

Be careful about your makeup, and your clothes. Try not to look sexy, go more for... the madam of the law office kinda look.
I had the same problem. I was in real estate at your age, and people would walk in and ask to speak with a realtor. When i told them i WAS the realtor they would laugh and ask for an adult. People actually walked out on me.
But yeah. things like cleavage, legs, and arms, wearing your hair down and straightened, too much makeup, and your tone and volume all conspire against you.
Eventually i started wearing pant suits and skirt suits, wearing my hair up and wearing my glasses and less makeup. I also started talking less and slower, and quieter, and a little less animated. It helped a lot. I hated the clothes, with a passion. But it really made a difference. It just pissed me off that i couldnt even wear nice office attire, like from learner or express. I just looked too young in it.
Also, you are young, so they have a right to think you are. The goal is just to convince them you know your stuff.

I know it's tough now, but it will make you feel pretty good as you get older. The worst I had was when I took my little cousins to the swimming pool. The woman at the cash register tried to charge me children's admission (12 and under)--I was 19 and wearing a bathing suit! You might try experimenting with different types of makeups to see what gives you an older look without looking fake, and with wearing clothing that gives you a somewhat older appearance (ex.--get rid of the miniskirts--dress like you'd be if you were in an office)

Have the same problem, I'm 23 and sometimes I still get asked, if my hair is done up nice, if I'm going to prom!?!
But we are going to love it when we are 40, right?
Try wearing more makeup, darker eyeshadows and definitely lipstick, not lip gloss. Also it's all in what you wear as well, not saying you need to dress llike an old lady, but wearing business type outfits: a blazer, cuffed pants or capris, dress pants, try to stay away from mini skirts, Mexx has really nice stuff for that type of thing.
Just try and stay away from what you would see a high schooler wear, even though we can still get away with it, just don't wear that kind of thing to work.
Good Luck!

Wow. Why would you even want customers like that?
Hun be proud that you look young! I know it can be such a pain in the ***, but you have an ID for the people you ACTUALLY have to prove it to.
I'm 22 and people think I'm like, 26 and 27, which is offensive , it sucks! But Mother Nature will take its toll fast enough, so enjoy it while you can!:)

First of all look at the way you dress. Try to put on dressier clothing. Opt for slacks over jeans and camisoles over tank tops. Don't wear flip flops instead try heels. Keep your makeup very conservative. Stray away from loud eye shadows and lip colors. You are young so enjoy it. Don't try to look old too soon! Maybe you should embrace your look and just draw in younger customers. Remember teens have spending power also.

i think you're lucky that you look young. we share the same dilemma though i don't worry about it anymore . what you can do is get some grey highlights in your hair(seriously) if you really want people to believe your older. otherwise just stick to being who you are and be happy .
