Even if you believe nothing is being done to produce efficient and less costly fuels, there are many things YOU can do to save on fuel costs and the efficient use of fuel.

One of the easiest, low tech ways is to simply use less fuel.

Carpooling will make your transit more fuel efficient.
Many people are turning to bicycle commuting as an inexpensive alternative.

The truth is that the United States has more automobiles and cheaper fuel prices than most of the globe. Consumers have increasingly been purchasing larger less efficient vehicles. What is the benefit of cheaper more effiecient fuel if consumers simply use more of it?

If there is no demand for cleaner, more efficient transportation, then why do you expect something to be done about it?

The US is driven by corportate interests & fossil fuel companies. Anything that would get us away from fossil fuel would be counter to their best interests. The government could act, but many of them are in office because of help from their "friends" in the big corporations. It also doesn't help the Bush family forture is in oil, and the last thing they want to do is lose money.

Consumers also need to take a stand. We need to refuse to buy vehicles with the lowest mileage in their class. We need to think hard if we really do need that oversided v8 SUV. We should also try a little harder to carpool, live closer to work, and not make unnecessary trips. The less gas we use, the greater the supply and this helps to lower the price.

Yes. It's the oil barrons in the Middle East and in the United States who do not support and actively prevent the development of alternative non-petroleum, efficient, cleaner fuels. It is not about lack of ideas, mathematical/technological capabilities, and certainly not about what the masses need or want. Environmentalists have been talking about this for 30 plus years.

Yes, but there is also no effort to not make no grammar no better so people can get better more intelligent communication talking typing done too.

Sorry, bad grammar has been driving me mad on yahoo today. there are many efforts underway to create fuels that meet all your needs. In this country, most of them center on Ethanol. The problem with other fuels is that they require modified delivery systems and engines. Replacing every car and gas station is not very practical.

Yes, it does seem like there is no effort. The big boys are making lots of money the way it is now, they have plenty of lobbyists working for them in Washington, plus several in elected positions. Until the public start paying attention and demanding changes there will be only small improvements as tokens.
