It could be a condition called Raynaud's phenomenon, where the blood flow to fingers or toes can get restricted temporarily, because the blood vessels contract for a while. I sometimes get individual toes go white for half an hour or so. I don't think it causes any major problems, but it can sometimes feel weird or be a bit painful when the blood comes back properly. I'd get it checked out if it happens again or if it lasts for ages.
Also, obviously if your fingers get very cold and you have quite pale skin then they can go really blue.

Did you slammed it in a door? It sounds bruised. To find out for sure. Press on the nail of the finger for a second. Notice it turns a liter color almost white? If it does not immediately turns back to the original color go to a doctor, you have blood issues.

If you didn't stick it in paint, ink, toilet boil cleaner or blueberries(this includes any type of food that results in a blue color, even blue kool-aid), it may be constriction of blood flow like some others suggested. If you jammed it or hurt it in any way I hope you would know that it may be a result of that and you may want to get it checked out if you feel it's getting worse or hasn't improved or even just to find out what it really is. Unless you already know what it is, then I wouldn't recommend wasting the money.

it depends really on whether you have injured your finger in the last few days if this is the case then you have probably just bruised it and rest assured your finger will return to the normal colour in a week or so, if you have not injured your finger then this sounds like little or no blood is getting to the finger and id advise that u seek medical help before it dies and drops off!!

Could be a hemotoma, a form of a bruise. You pinched it, or hit it on something. It will go away. Don't worry about it.
