Separate by introducing a DC current into the water. (you have to add a small amount of salt to make the water conduct electricity). To put them back together, light a match. There are safety issues that should be considered.

The H that is extracted comes in the form of H2 gas. Burning it in oxygen will produce H2O. Thats why people are using hydrogen as a clean source of fuel you know?

burning hydrogen produces water........probably in the gas phase. Be careful because it can be explosive.

Burn the hydrogen in the presence of oxygen. Watch out though - it will go boom! :)
