only if you want two!

Wireless requires two items to work. A wireless device and a wireless Acces point. It sounds like you laptop has the device built in. You do however need some type of access point to connect to. This could be a wireless router or access point at your home or a wireless access point in a starbucks or something along that line. So, I would guess that the answer would be yes. You need to buy something else.

This modem will work at home if you have DSL or cable and add a wireless router. If you are about town and are fortunate enough to be in a city, like Philadelphia where they have installed city-wide wifi service then it will be able to receive the signal. Airports, libraries, coffee shops and many other place have installed local area wireless networks that will allow your card to pick up the signal.

Go to our blog: http://www.cheap-refurbished-used-laptops.com

and search for "wifi sites" and I have listed many of the locations that provide wifi service that you laptop could access.

it depends on where you want to get your wireless signal from. Most people who have wireless have their networks password protected so odds are you wont be able to find a signal in your area unless you get a wireless router or some other access point to get online with the wireless device already in your computer. based on who you already have internet access with you can probably call them and see if they offer a wireless router that you can purchase though them or if you would need to go to best buy or somewhere like it and purchase one yourself. I personally suggest if you have to go buy one to get a linksys because they are pretty easy to set up on your own. They work great with just about every cable or dsl modem I have ever seen.
