If your laptop has a wireless network adapter, and you are within range of a wireless access point, you can have full internet services. For example, you can go to Starbucks and pay by the hour to use their wireless access point.

Some communities have wide-area access points where you can connect anywhere in the city. Many hotels have wireless access for hotel guests.

So you have to make sure that your laptop has the right hardware, then ask around to find out where you can connect. Expect to pay for that service, though.

You can try Sprint or other cell phone services. They have wireless Internet that is supposed to have great coverage. Typically you get service in areas you get cell phone service. It runs about $50 a month and Sprint has a special where you get the card for free.
