Yes we should.
You can't even get sick now these day it's so expensive. People rather stay sick than going to the Dr. and I don't blame me them with the high rates .

Nowhere in the Constitution does it say we are entitled to free Health care and free education. It really isn't free anyway. Someone has to pay. It really wasn't until after WW ll that some companies offered health care packages to employees. As health care costs have risen many have had to scale back these benefits. Costs will keep rising until some form of Tort reform is passed.

All states have mandatory school for most children up to age 16. We as tax-payers support the public school system. Should college be free for all. College is a higher learning institution and should be for those who are academically qualified no matter what their social status. Those that need remedial training should not be given slots until they are qualified.

I am torn with this because I do feel that everyone should be elegible for free healthcare (good healthcare) and free education would be a perk, however I also realise that free healthcare doesn't necessarily mean good healthcare if you look at the places offering free care, alot of the times the care is not good nor is it timely.

Our education is free, and universal healthcare only guarantees that everyone gets equally bad medicine.

I know that I don't want the government of Katrina, Waco, Iraq, and Affirmative Action to have anything at all to do with my healthcare.

And what's "free" about it? where does the money come from? OUR TAXES!!! so, in essence we're still paying for own healthcare, but we've lost the freedom to manage our own lives.

A public school education is available to all students through high school. Above that level, the US is a meritocracy. Centralized health care is probably more socialistic than I care to be in this country. I do agree though that access to health care insurance and therefore the health care system, should be more universal. But no free riders.

Absolutely not!!! I think that we have enough "free-riders" living among us now. Just imagine if the government had to pay for their education and healthcare........guess that would be like an extension of medicaid and federal aide grants for college. That would be awful to our country's budget. There is no way we could afford it. Just because you are living in AMerica, why should that make you able to receive a free education and free healthcare.......we have enough people who refuse to work around this country of ours. It already makes me sick how many people get a handout to live. I hate it.

Why should we be entitled to anything? I have never understood the concept that we should be entitled to freebies from the government, just by being a citizen. All the government is, is a body that sets our rules, and collects our money to use for the public good, such a road building, and protecting us from harm. Why should all the citizens of this country be forced to pay higher taxes to fund my healthcare costs? Why should I pay higher taxes to fund theirs? Healthcare comes with a very high costs, and I do not see why other people should be responsible for funding it for me.

Yes. But let's not stop there. Golf should be free, too. And I think everyone should have a new car every other year. Traveling on a plane or train should be free. And why should only the rich have mansions? I think the government should provide me with a mansion.

Yes, it should. I didn't have to pay for elementary school or high school (depending on where you went) and by law you have to go to school at a young age so why do we have to pay to further our knowledge.

As far as health care goes if we all lived in Canada health care would be free. As much money in tax, and school taxes and property that we have to pay for each paycheck and every year I'm pretty sure out health care can be free.

But its too many greedy high powered ppl in this world for us to receive a break. Not in the US. Please.

Sure those should be free. Education based on merit. But limited by the amount of money available. Not a blank check for people to run get a MRI everytime they get a headache. :D

In a communist country, sure, but... I want a paycheck and if the government gives it too me it'll be minimum wage... As it is the government tries to help out education with grants and there are scholarships out there. However, yes they "should" be free, but it's not feasible, our economy would go to crap.
