f(3+1)=f(4)=2(4)+1=9

but

f(3) + f(1)= [2(3)+1] + [2(1)+1] = 7 + 3 = 10

2006-06-26 03:48:35 · answer #1 · answered by QuestionAnswer 2 · 0 0

f(x) = 2x + 1

f(4) = 2(4) + 1 = 8 + 1 = 9

f(3) = 2(3) + 1 = 6 + 1 = 7
f(1) = 2(1) + 1 = 2 + 1 = 3

f(3) + f(1) = 7 + 3 = 10

so f(3 + 1) does not equal f(3) + f(1)

check it out

F(3 + 1) = F (4) = 2 x 4 +1 = 9

and F(3) = 2 x 3 +1 = 7
F(1) = 2 x 1 + 1 = 3

so F(3) + F(1) = 10

therefore no

no
this function is not linear transformation as f(x+y)=2(x+y)+1=2x+2y+1 whis is not equal to f(x)+f(y)

if,
x=a+b then,
f(a+b)=2(a+b)+1
but f(a)=2(a)+1&f(b)=2(b)+1
so,f(a)+f(b)=2(a+b)+2,ie not equals f(a+b)

2006-06-26 05:12:19 · answer #7 · answered by Sayom 2 · 0 0

nope

f(a+b)=2(a+b)+1
f(a+b)=2a+2b+1

f(a)+f(b)=2a+1+2b+1
f(a)+f(b)=2a+2b+2

f(a)+f(b)=f(a+b)+1

so not equal
