I like England - London is my favourite place of all - and I would like to see them do well in the World Cup, but are they let down by their fans?
Are some of the English fans a disgrace to their country?

Yes - without a doubt. The levels of football hooliganism are much better than they have been in the past - but generally I don't think our fans are much to be proud of - they tend to be very loud, drunken, yobbish and violent. Which is a real shame as there are plenty of English footie fans who do behave well, it is the great number who are a disgrace that everyone remembers. I am 100% behind the police's zero tolerance attitude to football hooliganism in this country.

They can be yes,but thankfully there does seem to be an improvement in their behaviour! Yes they are a disgrace to their country, but lets not brand ALL fans the same! I watched the Portugal/Holland match last night, and I must say the behaviour between the two teams was NOT that much better! That was a disgrace to their countries, not to mention bringing the whole games down! I cannot see why the game was allowed to continue,it should have been stopped and BOTH teams disqualified!!

The vast majority of footie fans are true supporters and genuinely travel to the matches either at home or abroad to watch football and support their team. Unfortuately there a number of hard core scumbags who have no interest at all in football ,and their sole aim is to travel around and cause riots and beat up other supporters. If the penalties were stiffer and they weren't allowed passports then most of these trouble causers would be stopped. Also, drunkenness and hooliganism go hand in hand where these scumbags are concerned.Yes, they are a disgrace to our country. They should be locked up in jail for 5 years.Let's hope they get a good pummelling from the German police !

Fans can't really be a disgrace cuz they're there rooting for the team and probably giving them a lot of confidence. No player would consider them a disgrace.

Short answer. YES.
I'm English and I used to be proud to be so, but not now; it's not only some football fans that bring shame on to England, we also have Lager louts and in general the considerate behaviour that was once equated with the word English is fast disappearing.

I think all teams, not just the English, have fans who are a disgrace and let their team down. Club and international

No. This is what really annoys me. When our fans go abroad yeah I will agree there are trouble makers but its not just us who have them.

For instance when german fans started on england fans. The police totally pounced on us even though we did nothing to provoke it they made it worse by totally attcking us. I know this is my being biased but I did watch it on the news like the rest of the other times. It really p***** me off.

no, not at all! English footie fans have a reputation from the 80's but there are factions from germany, poland etc that like to provoke trouble and being the home nation, they are not reported on as much...

no because we were watching the live report when it all kicked off german fans were throwing chairs at english fans and the english fans were trying to walk away when the riot police started
