Ok so I know he was recovering from an injury just before the Trinidad & Tobago game, but am I the only one who does NOT think that Wayne Rooney is Sven's wonder-kid?

He hasnt done very much for the team at all in the last few games, and I think we'd be much better off putting Peter Crouch on the field instead of Rooney.

I remember feeling really gutted when I found out Rooney had damaged his metatarsal thinking "How will we ever win the World Cup without him" - well pretty much the same as we will without him.

He aint all that really, is he??

To the person who said Crouch is over-rated - what on earth are you on about? No one is ever singing that man's praises, regardless of the fact he was an absolute legend in the Jamaica V England warm-up match and that he has scored for us in this world cup and Rooney has yet to.

Yeah totally over rated, at least crouch has scored in this world cup, as Gerrard, replacing rooney to do it. Don't get me wrong, he does try hard, but he is too stupid to realise that he is not actually that good. Like a bee. According to the laws od physiscs a bees wings are too small to get enough lift to be able to allow the bee to fly, and yet, fly it does. why? nobody has explained physics to a bee.

therfore Rooney plays like he does, because he is to thick to realise he can't.

Why do people always have to have a pop at players for not doing something. I assume its from people who have never played a competitive sport in their lives. Even Ghana not the most celebrated soccer nation have caused other teams real problems. Which should make even the slowest understand that Rooney is not playing against statues or idiots. Therefore to expect him to carry a whole national team on his back is a little dumb. He has played pretty well and has shown moments of real class already. The question should really be which of his team-mates is going to provide the quality service he deserves or be there to capitalize on the opportunities he creates for others. Don't see a lot of help out there for him right now in either department. Lamps, Gerrard and J. Cole seem to be his only hope and I'm sure they will gel better next match!
Rooney is good but he is not an island!

He's not a player on the level of Ronaldo (Portugal) , Ballack, Klose (!), Ronaldinho though
even if not 100% fit he's much better than Crouch. He's versatile, speedy and more importantly, has the support of the team, coach, country and media - so far. Just give it a while and the wunderkind will be just another Owen or Beckham (without the looks) and the british media will feed on him.

Rooney definitely isn't over-rated. He is playing very good games even though he was very seriously injured.
Player, himself, doesn't have to do fantastic move to be rated as very good. You have to look at statistics and look how many fouls was committed on Rooney, how many good tackles Rooney had... And then you'll have complete picture about player. My personal opinion is that Rooney and Crouch are doing their best at the moment.

Rooney's contribution to games, even when less than 100% fit cannot be underestimated. He has got everything - he can win the ball, he can keep possession and beat opponents and he can pass it to a member of his own team. He pulls his weight, plays with determination and he can score goals. He is still young, but if he can maintain his head he is destined to go down in history as one of the world's greatest.

Rooney had two men on him all game yesterday.

I wouldn't say anybody is over-rated in the team, individually they're all worthy of their praise (even Hargreaves). Perhaps we can heap derision on the players when we get knocked out. But allow them to play against quality opposition and I truly believe they will up their game accordingly

and that i wager your sister might desire to attain extra advantageous than you too MJ!!!! Andygurl is going to have your guts for garters Marky! Sir Alex is an exceedingly canny Scot, he does no longer positioned a talentless participant in his team. Rooney has made a great contribution to guy United and his presence would be a great deal ignored for the subsequent 2 months.

What makes you think Rooney hasn't done anything for the team? Rooney made great opportunities for other players to score goals. Its their fault if they can't make good use of their chances, not Rooney's.
