A matter of fact Hugh Nicol is the leader in SB's with 138 in 1887. Although this number could be a bit off. We really dont know who is the single season stolen base king because stolen bases was not an official stat from 1876-1885 in the national league and 1882-1885 in the american association (not to be confused with the american league). But officially the leaders in the singled season stolen base was Hugh Nicol and Ricky Henderson.
