Should the public be paying the media for them to use their soapbox in such a way? Or should we stand up and say no more.

No. I don't read it and I'm in NY.

But the enemy is paranoid and if they read this paper wouldn't they just think it is government propaganda.

Even if you are a conservative, you should read the liberal newspapers and vice versa. To have an informed position, you should always hear contrasting positions just as a judge would in a court of law. The current source of contention is the release of information by NYT regarding the tracking of financial information for alleged terrorists. While I think this is good idea, I can't see why this could not have been cleared by Congress or gotten through the existing procedures available through the courts. I just heard while writing this that NYT held on to this story for some time before releasing the story. Why couldn't the administration go to the courts to gag the release of the story based on national security concerns if what the administration was doing was legal? Every time we lose another right to our privacy, this is another victory for the terrorists. Torture, spying on Americans and now this indicated that while we might be killing or apprehending a few terrorists, there is an endless supply to take their place. Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness are the pillars on which this country was founded and upon which the founders of this country fought and died for. While giving up some liberties might be necessary to protect Americans, I think this should be done only with the strictist scrutiny in place by all branches of government, not just the executive branch.

Do you really read or buy the New York Times? I mean you, personally, the person who posted this question? Do you read and buy a number of print media forms, including various papers and magazines, so that you can compare the stories as reported in each and so you know which ones tend to lean one direction or the other on their opinion pages?

You can not boycott what you do not already buy.

Sure, boycott the Times if you want to.

You are not required to spend your money on products or services you don't want.

The question is, can you do more than just ask, "Or should we stand up and say no more."? Remember, there are a lot of folks who say, "Someone should do something." There are very few who actually do it.

If you don't like it, don't give them your money. It's very simple. If you don't like a product, you don't have to buy it. You can boycott them if you want, but I doubt enough people will do the same to make any difference.

If you don't like what the Times prints, don't buy it. But we do have a thing called "Freedom of press" in this nation...
